İki çekici Fransız

Fransızların biri ününün zirvesinde, diğeri yeni ama güçlü ışıklarla parlayan iki oyuncusu Juliette Binoche'u 'Hırsız', Gaspard Ulliel'i Hannibal Doğuyor'da izleyeceğiz

Sinemanın en gezginleri muhtemelen Fransa'dan çıkıyor. Ya da Anglosakson sinemacılar, Fransız starların karizmasından, cazibesinden yararlanmadan edemiyor. Zira çoğu Fransız starının kariyerinde illa ki Britanya ya da Hollywood macerası oluyor. Bu hafta gösterime giren iki İngilizce filmde de Fransız oyuncular, Doğu Avrupalı karakterleri canlandırarak Anglosakson sinemasına sızıyor. Anthony Minghella'nın 'Breaking and Entering/Hırsız'ında oynayan Julette Binoche, bu yolda daha tecrübeli. 'Hannibal Rising/Hannibal Doğuyor'un Gaspard Ulliel'i ismi henüz yeni yeni duyulan bir yıldız adayı. Anthony Hopkins'in mükemmelleştirdiği Hannibal Lecter karakterinin gençliğini canlandırarak zorlu bir hamle yapıyor

Gaspard Ulliel
'Batman Başlıyor', adına uygun bir şekilde bizi yarasa adamın hikâyesinin başına götürdü. Son James Bond filmi 'Casino Royale' ajanın 007 olduktan sonraki ilk macerasını perdeye taşıdı. Kahramanların kökenlerine inmeye devam ediyoruz. Bu hafta sırada sinemanın gelmiş geçmiş en ünlü yamyamı Hannibal Lecter var. Litvanya doğumlu Hannibal'ın ne diye bu kadar canileştiğinin cevabını Peter Webber'in 'Hannibal Rising/Hannibal Doğuyor'unda öğreneceğiz. Başyapıt 'Kuzuların Sessizliği'nden beri Anthony Hopkins'le özdeşleştirilmiş karakterin gençliği, Macaulay Culkin ve Hayden Christiensen seçenekleri elendikten sonra 23 yaşındaki Fransız aktör Gaspard Ulliel'e emanet. 'Un long dimanche de fiançailles/Kayıp Nişanlı'da Audrey Tatou'nun yana yakıla aradığı Malech'ten, André Techiné'nin 'Les Égarés/Yoldan Çıkanlar'ında güven duyulması zor Yvan kadar geniş yelpazede genç karakterleri canlandırmış bir oyuncu. Şimdi listeye Hannibal Lecter'ı da ekleyince bu yelpaze epey genişledi.
Fransız sinemasının son dönem yıldızcıklarından Gaspard Ullielnin efsanevi vatandaşlarının yanına katılmaması için hiçbir sebep yok. Hem yakışıklı hem de tekinsiz bir havası var... Yani, çekici (bu kadın editörün katkısı...). 'Hannibal Doğuyor'da bu iki özelliğini de Hannibal Lecter karakterinin emrine vererek zor bir işin altından kalkıyor. Filmografisindeki karakter çeşitliliği, onu yönetmenlerin sık sık tercih edeceğinin habercisi. Ama sinemaya başladığında kafasında yönetilmek değil yönetmek varmış. Bu yüzden liseyi bitirir bitirmez sinema okuluna gitmiş. Ne var ki kısa filmler çekse de daha öğrencilik yıllarında kendini kamera karşısında bulmuş. Televizyonda irili ufaklı rollerden sonra 'Kurtların Kardeşliği'ndeki kısa süreli rolü, Michel Blanc'in dikkatini çekmiş. Oyuncunun ilk Cesar adaylığı, Blanc'in 'Embrassez qui vous voudrez'deki rolünden. Ertesi sene André Techiné'nin 'Yoldan Çıkanlar'ıyla yine aynı kategoride ödüle aday oldu. 'Kayıp Nişanlı'yla da Cesar'ı evine götürdü. Filmin Cesar'dan başka bir katkısı da dünya çapında şöhret. Ulliel'in sonraki iki filmi, 'Le dernier jour' ve 'La maison de Nina' buralara gelmedi. Ama çok yönetmenli 'Paris, je t'aime' Filmekimi vesilesiyle seyircisiyle buluşabildi. Filmin GusVan Sant tarafından yönetilen hikâyesinde Marianne Faithfull'la beraber arz-ı endam ediyor. Yurtdışında yine bu sene gösterime giren serüven filmi 'Jacquou le Croquant'da da başrolde. Kısacık kariyerinde Peter Webber'den Jeunet'ye usta yönetmenler, her biri rüyaları süsleyecek karakterler... Kariyerindeki bu şansı belki de boş zaman aktivitesiyle bağlantılı: "Poker oynamaya bayılıyorum. Tıpkı sinema gibi blöf yapmayı gerektiriyor."

Hannibal Rising Oyuncu Seçimi

Hannibal’ı oynayacak oyuncuyu seçmek çok önemliydi. Dino De Laurentiis doğru insanı bulmak için ne kadar uğraştıklarını şöyle anlatıyor: “Çekici ve sert bir yüz ifadesine sahip olan birini arıyorduk. İnsan öldürebilecek kadar acımasız ama aynı zamanda çekici olan biri.

Gaspard Ulliel A VERY LONG ENGAGMENT filmiyle yapımcıların ilgisini çekti. ‘Onun yüzünü gördüm ve doğru insanı bulduğumuzu anladım. Gaspard’la Paris’te buluştuk. Peter evimde Gaspard’la bir deneme çekimi yaptı. Ona dönüp “gaspard sen Hannibal Lecter olmak için doğmuşsun’ dedim” diyor.

Peter Webber ise “Gaspard çok yetenekli. İki saatlik bir deneme çekimi yaptık ve ona hayran kaldım. Onu bir cenaze kaldırıcısının yanına gönderdik çünkü cesetlerle çalışmanın nasıl bir şey olduğunu anlamasını istiyorduk. O kadar hoşuna gitmişti ki bir kez daha gitmek istediğini söyledi. O an doğru bir karar verdiğimizi anladım.” diyor.

Ulliel ise “Anthony Hopkin’in izinden gitmek beraberinde baskıyı da getiriyor. Diğer filmleri tekrar izledim ve oyunculuğunu yakından incelemeye çalıştım. İşimin onun hareketlerini taklit etmek değil anladım. Onun hareketlerinden bazılarını alıp genç Hannibal karakterine ekledim.” diyor.

Webber Ulliel’e karakteri yaratmasında yardımcı olmuş “Peter bana yaratmak istediği atmosferin benzerini içeren filmlerini DVD’lerini verdi. Beni samuray filmlerine götürdü.” diyor Ulliel.

OYUNCULAR HAKKINDA
GASPARD ULLIEL – Hannibal Lecter
Ulliel oyunculuk kariyerine kısa filmlerde ve televizyon dizilerinde başladıktan sonra BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF filminde küçük bir rol kaptı.
Onu üne kavuşturan film ise Michel Blanc’ın SUMMER THINGS’i oldu. Daha sonra Andre Techine’in STRAYED filminde oynayan Ulliel Peter Greenaway’in TULSE LUPER SUITCASES filminde rol aldı.
Jean-Pierre Jeunet’nin A VERY LONG ENGAGEMENT filmiyle Cesar ödüllerinde En İyi Yeni Oyuncu ödülünü kazandı.
Daha sonra LE DERNIER JOUR, LA MAISON DE NINA, JACQUOU LE CROQUANT ve PARIS, JE T’AIME filminin Gus Van Sant bölümünde rol aldı.

25 kasım 1984 doğumlu Gaspard Ulliel oyuncu ve model.Saint-Denis üniversitesinde okurken sinemayla ilgili çalışmalar yaptı.okula devam ederken çalışmaya başladı ve fransız televizyonu için çekilen "Une Femme En Blanc" filminde yer aldı.Daha sonra La Bascule, Juliette, Julien L'apprenti ve Le Refuge gbi tv yapımlarında rol aldı.
İlk filmi 1999 yapımı Aliastı.bu filmle birlikte popüler oldu ve César Ödüllerinde en iyi genç erkek oyuncu dalında aday oldu.2004 yıılında Les Égarésdaki rolü ile ödülü kazandı.
Un Long Dimanche De Fiançailles (A Very Long Engagement)te Audrey Tautouya aşık olan Manech ise onun en büyük rolüydü.2007 yılında ise Genç Hannibal Lecter rolüyle seyirci karşısına çıktı.

The Vintner's Luck'ı (North Country'i çeken) kadın yönetmen Niki Caro çekmiş.
Film, yeni zelandalı yazar Elizabeth Knox'un romanının uyarlaması.
Romanı okuduğumdan, filmin vizyona girmesine sabırsızlanıyorum...

Aslında roman okunması kolay bir eser değil. Fakat çok ilginç ve sürükleyici.

Fransa da 1808'de henüz delikanlı olan bir (şarap-üzümü) bağcı Sobran Jadeau, bir gece yıldızların altında kederli (evlilik planları suya düşmek üzere)bir şekilde şarap içerken, birdenbire yakınlarda ki kilisenin heykellerinden biri canlanıyor gibi olup onun yanına gelir... ve karşısında bir melek durur.

Xas isminde ki bu melek, bir yudum şarap içer ve Sobran'ın derdini dinler ve her sene aynı gece buluşmayı teklif eder Sobran'a ve onun koruyucu meleği olacağını söyler.

Daha sonra Sobran, sevdiği kıza kavuşur evlenir, çocuğu olur, hatta üzüm bağların hasatı çok bereketli geçer.
Xas'la gittikçe her sene daha da çok yakınlaşırlar. (hatta erotizm paylaşımına kadar)


Her sene, aynı gece buluştuklarında Sobran o bitmek bilmez merakı ile Xas'a ahiret, tanrı v.s hakkında sorular sorar... ve yıllar geçtikçe Sobran, bu melek Xas'ın karanlık bir sır sakladığından şüphelenir... ve günün birinde bu sırrı öğrenir....

Roman aslında kalın bir eser değil... bu yüzden bazı bölümler kısa, hatta bir bölüm sadece 4 kelimeden oluşuyor...
Sobran'ın hayatından kesitleri okurken , bazı zaman dilimlerin içersinde oluşan en önemli yerleri "atladığını" görüyorsunuz.
Bu da çok ilginç gelmişti bana?!

Mevzu olarak ; özgür irade ve onun bedeli ... ahlak ve günahlar, tanrı, şeytan, melek etrafında dönüyor.
Bir melek için 55 yıl ne demektir...
ki o melek 1000 yıldır sürekli su taşıyorsa eğer cehenneme ...
orada bir bahçe yapabilmek için?
Ve sürekli "geride kalmak" acaba nasıl bir duygudur?

Xas'ın cehenneme girip çıktığı "nokta" Türkiyede ki bir kubbe'nin içinden... cennete girip çıktığı yer ise antarktika da ki bir volkanın içinden.
Cehennem ve cennetin tasvirlerini yazar Elizabeth Knox çok enteresan bir kurgu ile kurmuş.

KAYIP NİŞANLI 'ya ilişkin Gaspard ile söyleşi :

Question: You've been acting about half your life?

Gaspard: Yeah, almost. I'm 20 and I began at 12. In fact, I began by chance. It was a friend a friend of my mother who was opening an agency and she was looking for young kids, so I entered the agency, but more by curiosity than real passion.
At first, I had some small parts in TV movies, then bigger parts in TV movies, small parts in theatre movies, and then this. As I had a really slow progression, I think it really helped me to stay lucid and to keep grounded.

Question: Your first film was actually the one where director Jean-Pierre Jeunet noticed you?

Gaspard: No, in fact Jean-Pierre hadn't seen any of my movies when he auditioned me. He saw them afterwards. I don't know how he heard about me.
The casting director called my agent and told her Jean-Pierre wanted to meet me and we did some tests and he chose me.
I think it was a great audition because usually auditions in France are really short, you would just work really fast on a small scene, but there we had 2 or 3 hours, working-sessions with costumes, make-up, accessories; he was really directing me as if we were on the set. It was really enjoyable.

Question: Did you test with Audrey Tautou?

Gaspard: Yeah. I saw Jean-Pierre two times for tests and then he wanted to see me the last time with Audrey, but we did not work on any scenes with Audrey, it was just to see the physical chemistry. He just filmed us one next to another.

Question: You had to have a lot of chemistry with her even though you didn't share that many scenes with her. Did you and Audrey work off screen a lot developing chemistry? Did you hang out together?

Gaspard: Yeah. I remember at the beginning we were always having dinner together and we were thinking it was important to have a good relationship off the set for helping us with those scenes.
It was a bit daunting for us because we considered that it was really important for the emotion and the suspense to work all during the movie, that the viewers would see that there were some real hard and strong feelings between the two characters and a real passionate love.
And we had really few sequences to show this to the viewer, so we were a bit anguished about this, but I think we managed to get it right. In fact, Jean-Pierre was really confident with us.

Question: The scenes with her must have been very pleasant to shoot, but the scenes in the trenches and in no man's land must have been difficult.

Gaspard: It was the most difficult part for the actors and even for the crew because we were shooting this near winter, so it was very cold.
We shot for six weeks in the trenches set and the first two weeks of shooting were under fake rain.
It was really tiresome and in fact, I suspect Jean-Pierre of making us wait for hours in the mud on purpose.
In the trenches, it was really complicated to film because Jean-Pierre wanted some really precise filming with complicated movements of the camera so we just shot and shot and shot.
It was a bit tiring, but I think it was worth it because the scenes are really realistic.
We were almost feeling like soldiers and we were really tired, except we were telling ourselves that it was horrible for us, but it must have been really awful for the soldiers because we knew we could have a hot bath at the end of the day and we were not risking our lives.

Question: Did it give you an appreciation for history?

Gaspard: Yes, in fact Jean-Pierre insisted on the fact that each actor read this book, which was a diary from a soldier and it was interesting because I could learn some new aspects on this war, especially concerning the daily life in the trenches.
I think it's a really important book for the historians today and it helped me for my role, as the set also really helped me because it was a realistic set. It was a great job by the production designer.

Question: How many takes would you do for these action sequences in the trenches and in no man's land?

Gaspard: These scenes were obviously done fewer times because it was a bit complicated.
In fact, these scenes are stressful for an actor because you tell yourself when you have 300 extras, 2 planes, and 5 explosions, if you miss your cue, you know you're going to have to wait at least half an hour for another take.
For those scenes, we were making between 3 and 10 takes.
We had some trouble with the last war scene where I'm carving the tree with the plane that's shooting me, because we shot a great part of this scene in bad weather.
The plane was a really old plane and it couldn't take off if the weather was not good enough. So it was crazy.

Question: Did you film a lot of scenes that didn't make it in the film?

Gaspard: Yes, a lot. In fact, it's the first time that Jean-Pierre will put bonus scenes in the DVD. There was also a 2-hour "Making Of" which was made of the shooting.

Question: What was it like to work with Jean-Pierre because he's a very visually oriented type of director? Was he very particular or did he encourage collaboration?

Gaspard: First of all, he's the most hard-working person I know. He's really serious and he likes to prepare everything in advance, very precisely.
I remember the first time I went to his office, there was a huge model of the trenches set and he was playing with mini-cameras, thinking about the shots he was going to make two months later.
When he arrives on the set he knows exactly what he's going to do and every morning he has all the storyboard shots stuck on the board with precise timing.
But I don't think he's blocked on one particular idea, in the sense that when he knows he's got the right take, he's going to try a couple of takes with new ideas or maybe changing the text or adding a few things.

Question: Did you have a rehearsal period before you started shooting or did you do your rehearsing kind of pleasant for an actor.
on set?

Gaspard: We were rehearsing before each shot. For the emotional sequences, he doesn't like to rehearse. Sometimes we'd just shoot it directly.

Question: Are you looking to do any films in America?

Gaspard: For the moment I'm really happy with what's happening for me in France.
Also, this movie is the first movie that I've done that may have a real impact on international viewers.
So, this is a great opportunity for me. I'm happy with what I've got, but obviously, it would be a really great pleasure for me to work with American directors because there's a lot of wonderful American movies and it's always interesting to work with other countries.
I'll see if I get some propositions.

Question: Will this film be the French candidate for the Foreign Language Oscar?

Gaspard: No, it applied too late to get in for foreign films, so in fact it's in competition as an American movie, so it can get all the other nominations - Best Picture, Best Actor.
Also, it's in competition for the Best Foreign Film for the Golden Globes.

Question: Has this film opened in France?

Gaspard: Yes, a few weeks ago and it's having really great scores and the audiences are enthusiastic and we've had some great reviews, so everybody's happy.

Question: This was one of the most expensive movies ever made in France?

Gaspard: I think it's the second or third most expensive - it's 45 million euros.
There were eight months of pre-production and six months of shooting, which is very rare in France, usually we have two months to shoot.

Question: Have you watched the movie with an audience?

Gaspard: Yeah, a few times, but you cannot truly know [what they think], because I saw it with audiences for different premieres and when the public knows there's the crew in the room, they're not going to [trash] the movie.
It would in interesting to go incognito to a theatre to see it with a real audience.

Hannibal'da görmuştum kendisini,beğenmiştim ama diğer filmlerini sanırım izlemedim fakat merak ettim diğerlerini de izlemeye çalışıcam..

özellikle brir oyuncunun mimiklerini abartısız kullanışı ve gözleriyle biçok duyguyu ifade edişi çok önemli.gaspardda bu iki özelliği çok doğal bir şekilde kullanabilen ender oyunculardan.

biyografisini okuyana kadar sol yanağındakini bende gamze sanmıştım.meğerse bu gamze aslında 6 yaşında doberman saldırısı sonucunda oluşan bir yara iziymiş.

hannibalın gençliğini oynayacağı halde bu karakter anthony hopkins ile özdeşleştiği için çoğu kişi gasparda önyargılı yaklaşmıştı.ama gaspard muhteşem performansıyla bu önyargıları yıkmayı başardı

hannibal dışında Jacquou le croquant filmini izleme fırsatı bulmuştum.hikayesi sıradan olmasına rağmen açıkçası beni etkiledi.gaspard ikinci yarıdan itibaren gözükmesine rağmen sahnelerinde oldukça başarılıyı.gaspardın yanısıra jacqouonun küçüklüğünü oynayan oyuncuda inanılmazdı.
