“Hızlı ve Öfkeli” ve devam filmi “Daha Hızlı Daha Öfkeli” sayesinde aksiyon sinemasının yeni yıldızları arasına katılan Paul Walker, yürümeye başlar başlamaz kendisini kamera önünde bulan oyunculardan. "Kutup Macerası"nda hayvan dostu bir kâşif olarak izlediğimiz Walker, TV dizileri ve kötü komedi filmlerinde yer alarak başladığı profesyonel oyunculuk kariyerinde, aksiyona kayarak, kendisi için doğru rotayı bulmuş gibi gözüküyor.

Paul Walker, ünlü olma yolunda ilerleme açısından şanslı doğan insanlardan. Modellik yapan annesinin, eğlence dünyasındaki pek çok bağlantısı olması sayesinde, henüz çocuk yaşta modellik ve aktörlük yapmaya başlamış. Tüm bunlara rağmen Paul için oyunculuk, gerçekten de eğitim hayatını sigortalayan, iyi okullarda okumasını sağlayan bir tür garantiydi. Bu noktada Walker’ın, oyunculukta istediği noktaya gelmeyeceğine kanaat getirip, zaten hep içinde bir yeri olan su biyolojisi alanına geri döndüğünü ve Santa Barbara Şehir Üniversitesi’ne deniz biyolojisi okumak üzere kayıt olduğunu görüyoruz. 2001 yılında “Hızlı ve Öfkeli”de rol alması,filmin diğer başrol oyuncusu Vin Diesel gibi, Walker’ın da sinemada hızı ve aksiyonu seven geniş kitle tarafından sahiplenilmesini sağladı.Filmin beklenenden çok daha iyi bir hasılat getirmesi ve hemen devam filminin çekilmesine karar verilmesi nedeniyle,iki film arasında kendini fazla zorlamadı.Sadece, ülkemizde uzun süre vizyona gireceğine dair spekülasyonlar yapılan,ama bir türlü vizyonda izleyemediğimiz “Joy Ride”da (2001)Steve Zahn ve Leelee Sobieski’yle birlikte otobanda korku dolu anlar yaşayıp,“Life Makes Sense If You're Famous” (2002) adlı 7 dakikalık kısa filmde rol alan Walker,anlaşılan o ki tüm enerjisini, neredeyse tüm kadrosu değişen “Hızlı ve Öfkeli”nin devam filmine saklamış.Her ne kadar, ilk filmdeki kadar iyi bir performans gösterse de,kendisiyle ilgili olmayan, daha çok senaryo aksaklıkları, yönetmenin aksiyon türündeki klişeleri kullanmadaki yetersizliği ve diğer oyuncu seçimlerinin yeterince özenle gerçekleştirilmemesi gibi nedenlerden dolayı, “Daha Hızlı ve Daha Öfkeli”,beklenilen ilgiyi görmedi. Walker’ın bu iki hız filminde, suçluların arasına sızmak için onların yöntemlerine başvuran, kendini bir yarışçı tya da uzman bir şoför olarak gösteren Brian O'Conner karakterinde bu kadar başarılı olmasında, hiç şüphesiz, çocukluğunan beri çok bilinçli olrak spor yapmasının da etkisi var. Ortaçağ Fransası’ya ilgili bir kazı yaparken birdenbire ortadan yok olan profesörlerini kurtarmak için 14. yüzyıl Fransası’na yollanan dört öğrenciden birini canlandırdığı
"Zaman Ötesi"nin (“Timeline”, 2003) ardından ülkemizde de gösterime giren "Yeni Yıl" ("Noel", 2004) ve "Maviliklere Doğru" ("Into the Blue", 2005) filmlerinde rol alan Paul Walker, "Kutup Macerası"nda hayvanlar alemine karıştı. Walker, bu filmde ölümcül bir kazadan kurtulmalarını sağlayan sekiz kızak köpeğini Antartika'nın donmuş arazisinde bırakmak zorunda kalan, ama sonrasında onları kurtarmak için geri dönen bir araştırma ekibinin lideri Jerry Shepard'ı canlandırıyor. Walker, filmdeki rolüyle ilgili şunları söylüyor: "Köpeklere ve doğa sporlarına vurgu yapan, zor koşullar altında hayatta kalma temasını işleyen bu öykünün benim açımdan kişisel anlamı vardı. Çok fan mektubu geliyor ve hediyeler. Bir kız bana surf şortu yolladı ben kızı aradım kız neredeyse bayıldı. Güzel olarak çağırılmaktan nefret ediyor.
Yakışıklı diyebilirsiniz ama güzel asla. Okulda bana güzel çocuk derlerdi çok kotu kavga ederdim.

Diş görünüşümün bana rol almamda yardımcı olduğunu biliyorum ama bunlar geçmişte kaldı.

Modellik yapmış 2 yaşından beri. Annesi cheryl modeldi ve ajansı ona Paul’u yanında getirmesini söylemiş. Annesi menajerliğini yapmış.

TV eklerini print ederdim. Mesela Different strokes ve throb gibi. Para benim için koleje gitme parasıydı. Böyle bir kariyerim olacağını tahmin etmemiştim.

Deniz biyolojisi kolejini bitirdi o arada birisi ona bir TV dizisinde oynaması için teklifte bulundu.

*İlk çıkmada seks hakkında ne düşünüyorsun?

-Eğer yaparsan biliyorsun ki ilişkinin bir yere gitme olasılığı yok ama ikinizde biliyorsanız zaten bir yere gitmeyecek o zaman bir şey olmaz.
