Milan, 1644. İspanyol hükümetinden destek alan Cornero Kontu rakip soyadının sahibi olan Albrizzilerin topraklarını ele geçirmek ister. Milan'ın soylu ailelerinden olan Albrizzi ailesinin çok başarılı ve yasalara saygılı iki oğlu vardır: Ferrante ve Ippolito. Ferrante cesareti ve parlak silahşörlüğüyle, Ippolito ise keskin zeka ve bilgeliğiyle her meydan okumanın, her zorluğun üstesinden gelebilir.
Her ikisi de bilmeden düşman ailenin kızı olan güçlü ve güzel Livia'ya aşık olur . Mücadelenin başlamasıyla oğlanların babası ölür. Livia'nın, Ippolito'nun silahı ile öldürüldürülmesiyle trajik bir kaza meydana gelir. İki erkek kardeş dehşetle serilmiş vücuduna doğru atılırlar ve her ikisi aynı kadına aşık olduklarını o anda fark eder. Ferrante, kazara ateş etmiş olmasına rağmen Ippolito'yu affedemez. "Malasorte (Bela)" ismi altında Ferrante korsanları yönetmektir. Ippolito ise Fransızların hizmetinde "Du Bois" ismiyle her gün yaşamını tehlikeye atan bir casus olmuştur. Casus olarak Kardinal’in takdirini kazanacak başarılara imza atmıştır. Ama yıllardır aradığı kardeşinin, aslında çok yakınında olduğundan habersizdir.
Bir gün kader iki kardeşi yeniden biraraya getirir. Fransız hükümeti tarafından Ippolito'ya korsanların en zekisi ve korkulanını yakalama ve korsanları adalete teslim etme görevi verilir. Onlardan birinin erkek kardeşi olduğundan ise tamamen habersizdir.
Geçmiş aşkını görmezden gelen Ippolito bir görev sırasında yeniden düşmanı Cornero ve yanında yüzü bir maskeyle kapatılmış olan merhametsiz silahşör Aurigemma'yla karşılaşır. İspanyol fatihler büyük ve küçük Antille'nin korsanlarıyla savaşırken Ferrante adalarını basıp herkesi öldüren İspanyollardan intikam almak için bir plan yapar. Amacı kalelerini ele geçirmektir. Korsanların usta ve merhametsiz avcısı olan Ippolito, kendisine verilen resmi görevle, Antilleri korsanlardan temizlemek üzere yola çıkar. Kısa sürede büyük başarılar elde eder ama asıl hedefi olan Bela’yı hala ele geçirememiştir. Bazı rastlantılar sonucu, öldüğünü sandığı kardeşinin yaşadığını ve Bela ile aynı kişi olduğunu anlar. Ferrante under the name of Malasorte, he is to head of the pirates; Ippolito, told Du Bois, is an agent of the Cardinal. Ippolito, during a mission, find again the hostile Cornero with Aurigemma, merciless swordsman with the face covered from a mask, ignoring that it is his past love. The Spanish conquerors fight the pirates of the Big and Small Antille. To head of the consignment there is Ippolito, skilled and merciless hunter of pirates. During a clash, Ippolito discovers that the head of the pirates, under the name of Malasorte, the Ferrante brother is really. Meanwhile Aurigemma meditates revenge. While the battle impends does of all also of eliminate the two brothers, she try to poison Ippolito. When look as if her piano of revenge is about to arrive at to term here that the two brothers start again of accord. To die will be quite her.

Ferrante is blond and courageous, and feared for his brilliant swordsmanship, while his brother Ippolito masters every challenge with a combination of shrewdness and intelligence. Both fall in love with Livia, however, the daughter of an enemy family nearby, without knowing it, and a tragic accident occurs when Livia is killed by Ippolito's gun. The two brothers rush towards her prostrate body in horror, and both realize at that moment that they were in love with the same woman. Ferrante cannot forgive Ippolito, even though he fired the shot accidentally. They part company in anger. Years pass, and the two boys grow up into self-confident men. Ferrante, unable to get over Livia's death, has an endless series of adventures and is now a feared pirate, sailing the seven seas together with the notorious buccaneer Devil's Tail. Ippolito also risks his life every day as a spy in the service of the French. One day, fate brings the two brothers together again: Ippolito has been ordered by the French government to track down the most intelligent and feared of the pirates and bring them to justice, and is quite unaware that on of them is his own brother. After a dramatic chase across land and sea the two men finally come face to face. At that moment, however, they realize that their love for each other is stronger than Ferrante's pain and grief at Livia's death, and Ferrante ends up forgiving Ippolito. After so many years of separation, and with two wonderful women at their sides now, Isabella and Malina, the two brothers are happily reunited at last.
