27 Mayıs 1971’de Londra Harlesden’da doğan Paul’un annesi ve babası da oyuncu.
Akıl Oyunlarında rol arkadaşı olan Jennifer Connely ile evli olan oyuncunun iki oğlu var.(biri Kai-üvey oğlu diğeri de Stellan).Stellan ismi için ilham veren de Paul Bettany’nin Dogville adlı 2003 yapımı filmdeki rol arkadaşı Stellan Skarsgård (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001745/).Kardeşini küçük yaşta(8) kaybettiği için bir sürü çocuk sahibi olmak istediğini söylüyor.

Kendisi kanımca Da Vinci Şifresi'nde rolünün hakkını vermiş tek oyuncudur. Hani öyle bi bakışı vardı ki ekrana bakıp defol dese koşa koşa kaçacaktım sinemadan=)

Akıl Oyunları'nda izledim ilk olarak.Daha sonra da Dünyanın Uzak Ucu'nda.Her iki filmde de oldukça sempatikti.Da Vinci Şifresi ise onun zirvesi sanırım.Farklı karakterleri canlandırmadaki becerisi takdire şayan doğrusu.
