İki erkek çocuk annesi olan Oscarlı ünlü oyuncu Cate Blanchett, geçtiğimiz nisan ayında oğlu Ignatius'un doğumuyla üçüncü kez anne oldu. Bebeği sayesinde ayaklarının yere daha sıkı bastığını ve daha gerçekçi bir insan olduğunu söyleyen Blanchett, senarist ve yönetmen eşi Andrew Upton'ın da üç erkek babası olduğu için çok mutlu olduğunu sözlerine ekledi.

Filmin konusu ise şöyle:
20. yüzyılın başlarında Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt) yaşlanmayı tersine yaşayarak - gençleşerek yaşamak üzere 80 yaşında doğar. Benjamin Button 30 yaşında bir kadına (Cate Blanchett) aşık olunca karışıklıklar başlar. Fincher filmle ilgili " Karanlık, romantik ve faniliğe pek de övücü olmayan bir şekilde yaklaşan bir film bu. 1919'da doğan Button - film de 1. Dünya Savaşı ile başlıyor-, dünyayı geziyor ve 2000 yılına kadar geliyor." demiş.

Cate Blanchett ne yapsa yakışır
Cate Blanchett, Londra’da oyun yazarı eşi Andrew Upton’la birlikte bir tiyatro kuruyor. Upton’un yazdığı Philip Seymour Hoffman’ın yönettiği ‘Riflemind’ adlı oyunun ocak ayında izleyici karşısına çıkması planlanıyor.
Elf kraliçesi Galadriel, Ketherine Hepbourn, gazeteci, medyum, öğretmen, Bob Dylan, Kraliçe Elizabeth, Indiana Jones’taki ne yaptığını bilmediğim maceracı Irına Spalko... Nedir bunların ortak yönü? Tabii ki hepsinin, beyaz ötesi kadın Cate Blanchett tarafından canlandırılabilmiş olması... Yani bir kadın hem Katherine Hepbourn, hem Bob Dylan hem de Elizabeth olabiliyormuş ve 14 Mayıs 1969’da Melbourne Avustralya’da doğan Blanchett bunların hepsi olabilen kadınmış.
10 yaşındayken babasını kaybededen Blanchett, oyunculuk kariyerine şimdilerde de ilgilendiği tiyatroyla başlıyor. İlk önemli rolünü sinemaya da adım attığı yıl olan 93’te David Mamet’in Oleanna adlı oyununda Geoffrey Rush’la birlikte oynuyor. Bol ödüllü aktis, bu oyundaki başarılı performansıyla ilk kez ödüllendiriliyor. Sinemadaki başarıları ise 97’de rol aldığı Thank God He Met Lizzie / Çok Şükür Lizzie ile Tanıştı adlı filmdeki rolüyle, Avustralya Film Enstitü’sünden aldığı En İyi Yardımcı Kadın Ödülü ile başlıyor. Ertesi sene Ralph Fiennes’le başrollerini paylaştığı Oscar and Lucinda / Oscar ve Lucinda’da gösterdiği başarılı performans ise, ona yine Enstitü’den bu kez En İyi Kadın Oyuncu ödülü adaylığı getiriyor. 98’e kadar daha küçük filmlerde boy gösteren Blanchett, o sene Elizabeth’le büyük çıkışını gerçekleştiriyor ve kazandığı Oscar adaylığı ile birlikte herkes tarafından tanınan ve aranan bir aktris haline geliyor. Oscar heykelciğini Shakespear in Love/ Âşık Shakespear’deki başarılı performansıyla Gwyneth Paltrow’a kaptırsa da, Blanchett En İyi Kadın Oyuncu dalında BAFTA ve Altın Küre’nin seçtiği isim oluyor. Talented Mr Ripley / Yetenekli Bay Ripley, Bandits ve Veronica Guerin’deki oyunculuğu ona yine adaylıklar getiriyor. Bu arada hâsılat rekorları kıran bol Oscar’lı Yüzüklerin Efendisi Üçlemesi’ndeki Elf kraliçesi Galadriel rolü ona ve asaletine çok yaşıyor. Usta Martin Scorsese’nin yönetmenliğini üstlendiği The Aviator / Göklerin Hâkimi’nde, Katherine Hepburn’u öyle güzel canlandırıyor ki, bu performans ona En İyi Yardımcı Kadın Oyuncu Oscar’ını getiriyor. En İyi Film de dahil olmak üzere 7 dalda Oscar adayı Babel / Babil’de başrolleri Brad Pitt’le paylaşıyor. 2006’da ise usta oyuncu Judi Dench ile birlikte oynadığı 4 dalda Oscar adayı Notes on Scandal / Skandal adlı filmle bir kez daha En İyi Yardımcı Kadın Oyuncu Oscar’ına aday oluyor, ancak ödülü alamıyor. 2007 beyaz kraliçe için yoğun bir yıl... Bob Dylan’ı 6 farklı oyuncunun canlandırdığı I’m Not There adlı filmdeki Dylanlar’dan biri de Blanchett. Buradaki performansıyla –yine- En İyi Yardımcı Kadın Oyuncu dalında Oscar’a, Altın Küre ve BAFTA’ya aday oluyor. Ama bu kadarla kalmıyor çünkü Elizabeth: The Golden Age / Altın Çağ ile de En İyi Kadın Oyuncu ödüllerine aday... Başarılı yönetmen David Fincher’ın son filmi The Curious Case of Benjamin Buton’da da rol alan Blanchett’in 2009’da da dört projesi bulunuyor.
Cate Blanchett’in şu sıralardaki uğraşı ise tiyatro çünkü Londra’nın West End bölgesine oyun yazarı eşi Andrew Upton’la birlikte bir tiyatro kuruyor. Upton’ın yazdığı ve Amerikalı Oscar’lı aktör Philip Seymour Hoffman’ın yönettiği Riflemind adlı oyun, çok başarılı bir rock grubu olan ama sonradan dağılmış bir topluluğun bir araya gelişini konu alıyor ve ocak ayında sahneye koyulması planlanıyor.
Şimdiye kadar kanımca altından başarıyla kalkamadığı rol bulunmayan Blanchett, ne yapsa güzel, ne yapsa asil... Haliyle biliyoruz ki, tiyatro da yapsa başarılı olacak, çünkü Cate ne yapsa hakkını verir, ne yapsa yakışır...

Eski eroinman Tracy Heart (Cate Blachett), dört yıldır uyuşturucu kullanmamakta ve umutsuzca bir çabayla kendi işinin sahibi olup, geçmişinden kaçmaya çalışmaktadır. Annesi (Noni Hazlehurst) ve sakat kardeşi Ray’le (Martin Henderson) birlikte, Sydney’in Küçük Saygon olarak adlandırılan, eroinin kolayca bulunabildiği bir mahallesinde yaşayan Tracy, bir video dükkanının yöneticiliğini yapar. Hayali ise, hemen yandaki bilgisayar oyunları dükkanını satın almak ve kendi işinin sahibi olmaktır. Ne var ki, eski uyuşturucu bağımlılığı kötü bir kader gibi peşini bırakmaz ve kredi için başvurduğu bankalar ve finans kuruluşları onu geri çevirir. Bu arada Tracy, üvey babası Lionel’ın uyuşturucu bağımlılığına yenilmemesi için elinden geleni yapar. Tam bu sıralarda, yine bir bağımlı olan ve dört yıldır görmediği eski sevgilisi Jonny (Dustin Nyugen) çıkagelir. Geçmiş hırpani tarzının aksine artık takım elbiselerle dolaşan Jonny, büyük bir firmada broker olarak çalışmakta olduğunu iddia eder ve senet alış verişiyle,Tracy’nin ihtiyacı olan parayı bulabileceğini söyler. Tracy ve Jonny arasındaki aşk alevlenirken, genç kadın sevgilisinin ona yalan söylediğini, aslında broker olmadığını fakat kardeşi Ray’le birlikte, ünlü suç patronu, Jokey lakaplı Bradley Thompson (Sam Neill) için uyuşturucu sattığını anlar. Eğer temiz bir hayat kavuşmak istiyorsa o dükkanı almak için gereken parayı mutlaka bulması gerektiğini bilen Tracy de bu işe ortak olur. Ben de aynı senin gibi düşünüyodum ama Snatch filmini izledikten sonra Brad Pitt'le ilgili düşüncelerim tamamen değişti.İlk kez o filmle dedim vay be bu adam rol de yapıyomuş diye.
Babil'den sonra ikisi nasıl bi çift olmuşlar sabırsızlıkla bekliyorum.

"Elizabeth"i çok beğendiğini söyleyen Özgü Namal, "Elizabeth'i canlandırmayı isterdim" dedi.
Cine5'te yayınlanan "Cinecity" programının konuğu genç oyuncu Özgü Namal'dı. Son filmi "Güneşin Oğlu" bu hafta gösterime giren Namal, tarihteki bir sürü kadın karaktere hayran olduğunu ifade ederek, "Osmanlı İmparatorluğu ile ilgili hiç güzel filmimiz yok. Padişahların veya sadrazamların kadınlarını oynamak isterim. Hürrem Sultanı her zaman" dedi. Yabancı tarihi filmlerden "Elizabeth"i çok beğendiğini söyleyen Namal, "Elizabeth'i canlandırmayı isterdim. Hayatta tek kıskandığım oyuncu Cate Blanchett. Onun metoduna ve tekniğine aşığım" diye konuştu.
