Bundan sonra ne yapmak istediğine dair yaşadığı tüm sıkıntılardan kurtulur ve gönlünde yatan aslanı keşfeder: oyunculuk. Akademiden mezun olur olmaz, Sydney Theatre Company’nin birçok oyununda rol alır ve başarılı performanslarıyla dikkat çeker. Cate Blanchett, "Babil"de, kocası Richard'la (Brad Pitt) birlikte çıktıkları Fas turunda, beklenmedik bir anda patlayan bir silahtan çıkan mermiyle yaralanan Susan karakterini canlandırıyor. Susan, o andan itibaren yaşam ile ölüm arasındaki ince çizgide çakılı kaldığı için fazlasıyla zor olan bu rolün altından müthiş bir şekilde kalkan Blanchett'in, Brad Pitt'in kollarında lazımlığa çişini yaptığı sahnenin, şimdiden sinema tarihine geçeceğini kestirmek zor değil. Cate Blanchett, Judi Dench ile beraber oynadığı "Notes on a Scandal" ve Steven Soderbergh yönetiminde George Clooney'e karşı oynadığı "The Good German" adlı filmlerle yakın zamanda yeniden karşımıza çıkacak. Ayrıca 2006 Mart ayından itibaren "Hedda Gabler" adlı tiyatro oyununun Amerika'daki sahnelenişinde boy göstermeye başlayan yıldız oyuncu, şu sıralarda "Elizabeth" adlı filmin devamı niteliğindeki "The Golden Age"in çekimlerinde oynamaya devam ediyor.

Elizabeth portresi çizmişti. Müthişti!!
Bu performansı ile oscara aday olmasına rağmen ödülü Shakespeare in Love'daki (bence vasat performansı ile) Gwyneth Paltrow'a kaptırmasına hala şaşarım? :blink:

Aile: 10 yaşındayken babasını kalp krizinden kaybetti. Bilgisayar sektöründe çalışan Bob adlı bir ağabeyi ve tiyatro tasarımcısı olan Genevieve adlı kızkardeşi var.
İlişkiler: Andrew Upton adlı yazar eşiyle birlikte yaşıyor. Blanchett'in 1997 yılında oynadığı "Thank God He Met Lizzie" filminin setinde tanıştılar. 2001 Aralık ayında Dashiell John Upton adlı bir oğlu oldu. İsmini, Dashiell Hammett adlı eski yazardan aldılar.
Çocukluk: Melbourne'deki Methodist Ladies Kolejine devam etti. 18 yaşında bir gezi için Mısır'a gitti. Burda çekilen bir yerel filmde tesadüfen figüran olarak rol teklif edildi. Ama çekimlerden nefret etti ve yarıda bıraktı. İlk ciddi sinema rolünü oynadığı 28 yaşına kadar tiyatro ve birkaç TV dizisi dışında başka oyunculuk deneyimi olmadı.
Eğitim: 1992 yılında Avusturalya'daki Ulusal Dramatik Sanatlar Enstitüsünden mezun oldu ve sadece 1 yıl içinde çok tanınan bir tiyatro oyuncusu olmayı başardı.

The Hollywood Reporter’ın haberine göre animasyon seslendiren yıldızların arasına George Clooney ve Cate Blanchett’de katılıyor. “The Good German” filminde beraber rol alan iki oyuncu Wes Anderson’un yöneteceği “The Fantastic Mr. Fox” ismindeki ‘stop-motion’ tarzındaki animasyonda sesleri ile yer alacaklar.
Ronald Dahl'ın klasik çocuk hiyakesinden uyarlanan “The Fantastic Mr. Fox”, üç kötü kalpli çiftçiyle mücade eden akıllı bir tilkiyi ve ailesini anlatıyor. Clooney filmde tilki Mr. Fox’u, Blanchett ise tilkinin karısını seslendirecek.

Cate Blanchett Indiana Jones kadrosunda
Cate Blanchett,Indiana Jones macerasının 4.bölümü için anlaşma imzaladı.yönetmenliğini Spielbergin,senaryosunu David Koepp'ınüstlendiği filmde Blanchett'ın canlandıracağı karakter hakkında bilgi verilmedi.
Filmin çekimlerine haziranda Los Angeles'ta başlanacak ve dünyanın diğer yerlerinde devam edecek.Film 22mayıs 2008de vizyona girecek.

good germanda duruşuyla bakışlarıyla ses tonuyla tubi seninde belirttiğin gibi çok karizmatikti.özellikle clooneyle olan sahnelerinde bakışları çok etkileyiciydi.bu arada geroge clooneye de tabiri yerindeyse gelen vurdu giden vurdu:img-hyste
birde filmde dikkat çekici bir noktada catein boyunun tobeyden de eşi rolündeki oyuncudan da uzun olmasıydı.

Metalik renkte püsküllü bir elbise ile geceye katılan Oskar ödüllü ünlü aktris, dışarı fırlamış kemikleri ile oldukca solgun ve zayıf görünüyordu.
Ancak Avustralya doğumlu Blanchett’in iskelet görünümü akıllara aktrisin de Hollywood’daki sıfır beden fenomenine kapılmış olabileceği fikrini getirdi.
37 yaşındaki aktris Time dergisinin hazırladığı yılın en etkili 100 kişisi sıralamasında “artist ve eğlendiriciler” kategorisinde 10. numarada yer almıştı.

Üniversitede 1 yıl kaydımı dondurup dünyayı gezdim. Param da çok azdı. İstanbul’da tavanı akan bir sığınakta bile uyudum. Sonra Mısır’da beş parasızken İskoç bir çocuk, filmde rol alırsam 5 Mısır doları kazanacağımı söyledi, ben de kabul ettim. En azından bedava yemek veriyorlardı
